Byron Burkhart and Alexandria Gentile have been identified as the suspects in the Lancaster, California, road rage shooting that claimed the life of 4-year-old Gor Adamyan. The suspects allegedly chased down the family's car, opening fire and striking the boy in the torso. The incident occurred just after 7:30 pm Friday night when the family was on its way to the grocery store.

“While being pursued by the suspects, the victim driver slowed his vehicle, at which time the suspect driver pulled up along the passenger side of the victim’s car and began shooting,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The boy was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. With the assistance of the parents' dashcam footage, the suspects' car was located at a local hotel. Burkhart, 29, and Gentile, 27, were taken into custody without resistance and have been booked at the Los Angeles County Jail on suspicion of murder.

"We've got cameras everywhere. We've got these 'Flock' cameras, and we pretty much know at this point anybody in the city's license plate, and so we're able to track it," Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris said. "The message we hope gets out there is: if you're a criminal, you probably shouldn't come to Lancaster."

Parris believes the suspect have gang affiliations.

Speaking to Eyewitness News, a spokesperson for the victim's family said they outraged by the "senseless act."

"Fight against this violence and killing ... stop murdering and shooting," she told the outlet. "We want our kids to go to school and come back safely ... go play outside and come back safely. Like, drive or go to the market or visit friends [and] come back safely."
