1. Menace II Society (1993)

Menace II Society is a crime drama thriller directed by Hughes Brothers in their debut. It earned fame for its violence, profanity, and drug-related content.

The film features Caine Lawson and his best friend Kevin Anderson. They enter a liquor store to buy some malt where a Korean cashier and his wife suspect that they might be stealing.

Kevin gets into an argument with the couple and he shoots them fatally, takes the surveillance footage, and robs their corpse. In another scene, where they try to steal a car they get detained by the police.

The police can not link them to the murder and they walk free. Caine moves to Atlanta with his friend Ronnie and while leaving the state, he gets into a drive-by shootout and loses his life.

Straight Outta Compton is a 2015 film directed by F. Gary Gray. It follows the story of the rise and fall of the hip-hop group N.W.A.

It opens with a chaotic dystopia surrounding Compton, California. The reason behind the chaos is revealed to be street gangs, drug dealers, and police brutality. 

Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and DJ Yella form a group and start a recording label Ruthless Records. They make music their powerful weapon to expose the life in the hood.

3. Juice (1992)

Juice is a 1992 crime thriller film and the directorial debut of Ernest R. Dickerson. It was mostly filmed in New York City and Harlem.

It presents four teenagers of color along with their families and daily activities. It also sheds light on police harassment towards them and rival gangs from the neighborhood.

The teenagers start skipping school and realize that they have no respect in society. To earn it, they chose the wrong path and rob a grocery store on the corner.

It pictures the story of a gangster named Nino and his gang members who go by Cash Money Brothers. They get into the drug business and make million dollars every week.

They get noticed by a cop named Scooty who tries to infiltrate the gang with the help of a former drug addict. He fails in his attempt but he does not lose hope.

Scooty takes matters into his own hands and becomes a drug pusher. He launches a sting operation and catches Nino red-handed who gets a year in prison. 

While speaking with reporters outside of the courtroom, Nino gets shot and perishes.
