Locations of the Churchs 300 temples across 6 maps in April 2023

The Church News has updated its six “temples dotting the world” maps to show the location and status of each of the 300 total temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The temples and statuses are current as of April 1, 2023.

Last year, the Church News moved from previously employing two maps — a worldwide map and a United States map — to plot temples across six maps.

Temple locations of the Church of Jesus Christ

The map at the top has dots representing each temple location across the globe. Each map listed is broken down into six geographical areas:

United States and Canada
Latin America, including Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and all of South America
Europe
Africa
Asia
The Pacific, which includes Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific islands

There are also three notable exceptions from the maps and the Church’s areas, which were established beginning in 1984 to direct the work in geographic locations of the global Church.

Because of their locations in the Pacific Ocean, the Laie Hawaii and Kona Hawaii temples are shown on the Asia map, rather than the United States map.

The Praia Cape Verde Temple is shown off the coast of West Africa, but the temple pertains to the Europe North Area.

And the announced Dubai United Arab Emirates Temple falls under supervision of the Church’s Middle East/North Africa Area but is shown on the Asia map.

Additional maps below show the temples in tighter geographic breakdowns, with each of the 300 temples identified by name and current status — dedicated and operating or scheduled to be dedicated, dedicated but under renovation, under construction or scheduled for groundbreaking, or announced and in planning stages.

Temples dotting the United States and Canada

The map below shows the temples of the North America Central, North America Northeast, North America Southeast, North America Southwest, North America West and Utah areas.

For geographic continuity, the two Hawaii temples — Laie Hawaii and Kona Hawaii — are found on the map with the temples located in the Pacific Ocean.

Temples dotting Latin America

The map below shows the temples of the Mexico, Caribbean, Central America, Brazil, South America Northwest and South America South areas.

Temples dotting Europe and Africa

The two maps below show the temples of the Europe Central, Europe East, Europe North, Africa Central, Africa West and Africa South areas.

The Praia Cape Verde Temple, off the coast of West Africa, is supervised by the Europe North Area.

Temples dotting Asia and the Pacific

The combination map below shows the temples in the Church’s Asia, Asia North, Philippines and Pacific areas and part of the Middle East / Africa North Area.

For geographic continuity, the map also includes the Dubai United Arab Emirates Temple in the Middle East / Africa North Area as well as the Laie Hawaii and Kona Hawaii temples in the North America West Area and the United States.

A simple breakdown of the 300 temples is:

176 dedicated temples
56 temples under construction
68 temples announced

But it is more than just that.

Of the 176 dedicated temples, three pioneer-era temples — the Salt Lake, St. George Utah and Manti Utah temples — are under major renovation. A fourth — the Columbus Ohio Temple — is completed and scheduled for rededication.

Also, four other dedicated and operating temples are scheduled for renovations:

Of the other 64 announced temples, 28 have had their site locations officially identified.

More than a third of the 300 total temples — 118 to date — have been announced by President Russell M. Nelson during his five years as Church president.
