Idaho Fish and Game untangles buck from hammock in Pocatello

July 2024 · 1 minute read

Idaho Fish and Game helped out a buck caught in a backyard hammock in Pocatello.

IDFG got a call earlier this month from a Pocatello resident saying a buck had its antlers totally entangled in a hammock.

It took two IDFG employees to hold the buck still while a third worked on cutting away the rope.

The buck appeared to be unharmed, but its antlers bobbled from the strain of trying to escape.

IDFG has seen various times when deer would get stuck in backyard objects, such as Christmas lights, support ropes, or fences. IDFG says if you live near wildlife, it's best to reduce hazards in your yard to avoid property damage and hurting the deer.
