The new Call of Duty battle royale experience is almost here and we can’t wait to check out everything Warzone 2 has to offer. If there’s one thing that might be a little bit confusing, though, it’s the new Warzone 2 Gulag system. So, that’s why we’re going to explain everything you need to know down below.
We know Warzone 2 and DMZ are getting Rainbow Six Siege style interrogations, and that the Warzone 2 DMZ release date is almost here, but what do we know about the new Gulag system? Well, you’ll be pleased to know that you’ll still be thrown in there when you die – so, it offers you a second chance at that illusive battle royale win. But, there’s a few other things you need to know about…
Warzone 2 Gulag explained
If you’re wondering what the new Warzone 2 Gulag system is like, allow us to explain. The Warzone 2 Gulag is a 2v2 experience where players can either work against one another in a deathmatch with a predefined loadout, or together and against an AI Jailer to escape and return to the battle royale.
In the new Warzone 2 Gulag system, players will be randomly paired together to fight in a 2v2 deathmatch similar to the Gulag system we’ve seen in the first Warzone title. Everyone will have a pre-set loadout of basic weaponry, but there will also be better weapons available as ground loot in the centre of the map.
If you want to escape, you can either win your 2v2 deathmatch and return to the battle royale – or, you can work together with your enemies to kill an AI Jailer. Eliminating the Jailer, which will require co-operation and teamwork, will return all four players to the battle royale. He’s going to appear in the middle of the timed Gulag, though, so you will need to use the newly-added proximity chat feature – or some tactful crouching – to communicate this to your enemies.
If you don’t elimiate the Jailer, or your opponents in time, then everyone loses. Infinity Ward has ditched the overtime flag capture mechanic for a more brutal Gulag that rewards decisive action and – in some cases – betrayal.
That, though, is about everything you need to know about the new Gulag experience coming to Warzone 2. If you want to read up on all the Warzone 2 guns and weapons that could feature in the predetermined Gulag loadouts you stumble across, you can here. It’s also worth reading up on the new Warzone 2 battle pass system here, while you have a moment. It’s going to be a little different to what we know.
